In a tragic event, a 25-year-old badminton player named Gundla Rakesh died after suffering a sudden heart-attack while playing a match in a court in Hyderabad. It turned out to be a shocking incident which raised health concerns of young athletes. A few days before, another incident took place where cricketer Harjeet Singh collapsed on the pitch right after hitting a six during a match in Firozpur, Punjab.

In a viral video which is reportedly from a Nagole Stadium in Hyderabad, Gundla Rakesh was getting ready for a serve during a badminton match before he suddenly collapsed on the ground. After that, all the members present there including players rushed towards him. One person was also seen attempting chest compressions on Rakesh to revive him. After that, he was taken to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead.

Rakesh was son of former deputy Sarpanch in village of Telangana

Gundla Rakesh, who died of a heart-attack during a badminton game was son of Gundla Venkateshwarlu, who is a former deputy Sarpanch in Thallada village in Khammam district of Telangana. Apart from that, Rakesh also used to work in a private firm in Hyderabad as an employee.

It has been an alarming sign for young people, who got involved in sporting activities and gyms. Last month, Karnataka’s Hassan district recorded four deaths because of heart-attack on a single day on June 30. Due to this, the total number of heart-attack related deaths rose to 22 in just 40 days in the district. Out of these 22 deaths, five people were from age 19 to 25 while eight were in the age group from 25 to 40.
