Pakistan batter Ahmad Shahzad made some serious allegations on the Pakistan Cricket Board ahead of the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in 2025. Having played his last season for Quetta Gladiators in 2021, Shahzad retired from the league in 2023. However, the 33-year-old has recently accused the PCB for putting his name in the PSL season 10 drafts for fake hype and publicity.

Ahmed Shahzad expressed his disappointment over PCB for using his name for the upcoming edition of the Pakistan Super League. “You all know that I have already announced my retirement. There are such blind and foolish people sitting in the PCB who can’t see that they use players to create hype by presenting them as good or bad in the market, just to gain pre-hype for their product. These are the kinds of people they have appointed," Ahmad Shahzad was quoted as saying in a video on his YouTube channel.

They want me to be a part of a league that is declining every year: Ahmad Shahzad

Apart from the video, Ahmad Shahzad also shared a post on his X account where he said that the Pakistan Cricket Board has been using his name to revive the PSL that has been declining in terms of popularity in the last few years. He also mentioned that it would be an injustice for many of the talented cricketers in the country.

“My decision to leave the PSL stems from the absence of merit and the prioritization of connections over genuine talent. I did not register for PSL 10 and publicly parted ways with the league last year. They want me to be a part of a league that is declining every year, seeking players who can revive it, but I am not interested without the assurance of merit in this league,” Ahmad Shahzad wrote on his X post.

“I stand for those who have been overlooked and will continue to fight for justice in our sport. Insha’Allah, I will not relent and will stay firm until the very end,” he further added.
