Atletico Madrid’s Alexander Sorloth scripted history by scoring the fastest ever hat trick in LaLiga during their latest game against Real Sociedad. Playing against the San Sebastian club on May 10, at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid, Norwegian striker scored a quick flurry of goals in the seventh, 10th and 11th minute, scoring three goals in precisely three minutes and 57 seconds; registering the fastest ever hat-trick in the entire history of the Spanish top-flight competition.

Clinically converting a scrumptious cross from Pablo Barrios in the seventh minute, Sorloth opened the scoring for Atletico Madrid. Minutes later, Samuel Lino released Sorloth into a good attacking position with a clever through ball and the 29-year-old striker held off the defense with his dribbling before unleashing a strike into the far low-bottom corner, beyond the reach of the outstretched goalkeeper. The third goal was extremely lucky as a mix-up between the Sociedad defenders while clearing a cross, saw the ball land generously at Sorloth’s feet, who smashed it into the goal from close-range, sealing his hat trick.

Sorloth breaks his own record from May 2024 of scoring 4 goals in one LaLiga game

To add cherry on top of the cake, Sorloth scored a fourth goal in the 30th minute, putting the game well beyond the reach of Real Sociedad and securing an almost single-handed victory for his club. He was subbed off in the 74th minute for Angel Correa, to a standing ovation from the Metropolitano crowd. His hat-trick heroics against Sociedad took his overall goal tally of the current season to 21 goals. Notably, Sorloth became the first LaLiga player to score four goals in a single match, breaking his own previous record of May 19 2024, when he scored 4 against Real Madrid when playing for Villarreal.

Sorloth was one of the most prominent names of Diego Simeone’s summer overhaul, where he signed multiple quality players like Julian Alvarez, Alexander Sorloth, Conor Gallagher etc. Sorloth has been instrumental for Atletico’s success this season, proving to be a reliable goal-scorer in crunch situations for the Madrid outfit.
