Arda Guler, the 18-year-old Turkish midfielder who has joined Real Madrid from Fenerbahce, made an awkward mistake during his presentation at the Santiago Bernabeu on Friday. The youngster came up to the podium to speak before Real Madrid President Florentino Perez finished his speech, causing some confusion and laughter.
Guler, who is one of the most promising talents in Europe, had signed a five-year contract with Real Madrid for a fee of €17.5 million, plus an additional commission fee to his father, who is also his agent. Guler who would have been obviously nervous got up early to which Perez reacted immediately so as to not embarrass the player.
The president welcomed the new signing on the stage and quickly finished his speech while Guler stood beside him. In Perez’s speech, he welcomed the player to the club and had heaps of admiration for his talent and skill. The president also said, addressing the player, that the Real Madrid fanbase will ‘support you until the end’.

With his family visibly emotional, Güler expressed his excitement at signing for the historic club. Güler shared a brief comment after Perez finished his speech, “First of all, thank you to my family, to the people who have helped me get to this point and to this club. I also want to be a legend of Real Madrid. Thanks for everything.”
Arda's mother got emotional during her son's presentation at Real Madrid and the youngster was spotted wiping out her tears of happiness.

The ‘Turkish Messi’ scored six goals in 35 appearances over the 2022/23 season, helping Fenerbahçe to a Turkish Cup victory with a performance for which he was named Man of the Match. Guler will look to learn from midfield legends at Real Madrid, Luka Modric and Toni Kroos who have carried the Madrid midfield over the years.
