On Saturday, May 10, Chelsea became the first club in Women’s Super League (WSL) history to stay undefeated in a 22-game season after beating Liverpool with a stoppage time winner from Aggie Beever-Jones. After securing the WSL title a couple of weeks ago, Chelsea players lifted the coveted trophy in front of thousands of fans at Stamford Bridge, and celebrations were quite wild from them afterwards.

Notably, during the ongoing season for the Chelsea women’s team, they managed to win 19 and draw three matches in the WSL under Sonia Bompastor, collecting a whopping 60 points. Chelsea have already clinched the League Cup earlier in the season, while the Women’s FA Cup final against Manchester United on Sunday, May 18, at the Wembley Stadium in London, will be an opportunity for them to earn themselves a treble this season.

This was the sixth successive title in the WSL for Chelsea, but this time, their tally of 60 points is the best-ever in the league’s history. When Erin Cuthbert, the Chelsea midfielder, was asked about whether lifting WSL will ever get boring, to which she responded, as per BBC Sport, “No. And I don't think it ever will! Everybody sees the trophy lift and they see six titles but it's not come without a lot of hard work this season, a lot of adversity.”

It's mad. It just doesn't happen in football: Erin Cuthbert on Chelsea's unbeaten WSL season

Erin Cuthbert also spoke about Chelsea becoming the “Invincibles”, in the WSL 2024-25 after lifting the coveted trophy. She remarked, “It's mad. It just doesn't happen in football. To write part of history like that is special but for me I just wanted to win the title because I know how hard it is to win. A lot of players we have in the dressing room are new and we were thinking, "It's hard work," and they come in and win and do an invincible season.”

In the WSL 2024-25, Chelsea finished in first place with a whopping 12-point gap between them and Arsenal, while Manchester United found themselves ending the season in third place, 16 points behind the champions.
