In an exclusive video posted by Mumbai Indians on their official Instagram account, Hardik Pandya and Rohit Sharma, the two of the biggest players of the IPL franchise, were spotted practicing together in the nets. MI captain Hardik Pandya bowled a few deliveries at full tilt to the former skipper Rohit Sharma, which were handled splendidly well by the latter, to raise hope for a better season for the IPL franchise in a couple of months’ time.
Notably, a tumultuous last year both on and off the field for Mumbai Indians saw them finish at the bottom of the IPL 2024 points table under Hardik Pandya’s captaincy after he had replaced Rohit Sharma in the role. Both these experienced cricketers were far from their best in terms of individual performances in the IPL last season, and they weren’t able to galvanise the team to greater successes of the recent past either.

Hardik Pandya and Rohit Sharma are expected to play together for India in Champions Trophy before IPL
But with the IPL from last season firmly behind, Hardik Pandya and Rohit Sharma sweated it out in the nets during an evening session, trying to help each other get better at their respective games, which could really come handy not only for Mumbai Indians, but before that, the Indian cricket team. Pandya and Sharma are expected to be an integral part of India during the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which will be played in Pakistan and the UAE from February 19 onwards.
Ahead of the tournament, Indian captain Rohit Sharma is slated to address a press conference alongside chief selector Ajit Agarkar, where the latter will be announcing the names of the players making it to the 15-member squad. Hardik Pandya, who last played a 50-overs match for India during the ODI World Cup 2023 against Bangladesh before being ruled out of the tournament due to an injury, is all but certain to make the squad for the Champions Trophy.
