As the second edition of World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025 nears its penultimate stage, a bizarre incident unfolded in the 14th match of the tournament, which was played at the Grace Road in Leicester between Australia Champions and Pakistan Champions on Tuesday, July 29. Notably, while the match did not had any relation to do with qualification scenario as the two teams had already confirmed their spots in the semi-finals, Pakistan Champions secured a comfortable 10-wicket win to reclaim the top spot in the standings.
During the match, a strange moment occurred as an Aussie bowler went onto bowl 18 deliveries in his over. The moment unfolded in the final over of the game as Pakistan Champions were chasing mere 75 runs for victory at the Grace Road. Brett Lee, the captain of Aussie Champions handed the ball to John Hastings, when the Pakistan scorecard read 55/0.

As he came to the seventh over of the Pakistan innings, he started with five wide deliveries to Sohaib Maqsood, all of which went outside the off-stump. After a single legal delivery , Hastings bowled a no-ball followed by another wide which went well outside the leg stump. As he was struggling with his line, Hastings then switched to round the wicket but ended up conceding three more wides.
With runs piling for the opponents, he went onto bowl six more wide deliveries. In all, the right-arm fast-medium bowler bowled 12 wides and one no-ball, with Pakistan chasing the target with ease in the over to complete the game.

With this he recorded one of the longest overs ever bowled in cricket history. However, the Australia Champions lost the game with massive 10-wicket margin, they will next play South Africa Champions in the second semi-final, set to be played on Thursday, July 31 from 9:00 pm IST onwards at the Edgbaston in Birmingham.
