Kolkata Knight Riders’ co-owner Juhi Chawla jumped in joy as the team qualified for the playoffs of the 2024 season. The Shreyas Iyer-led side became the first team to seal their berth in the knockout stage of the 17th edition. KKR defeated MI by a margin of 18 runs on May 11, Saturday, at Eden Gardens to make it to the next level. The match saw the hosts coming to bat first after MI skipper Hardik Pandya won the toss in a rain-affected match. 

Owing to Venkatesh Iyer’s 42 and Nitish Rana’s 33, the side managed to put a total of 157 runs in 16 overs. The five-time winners failed to chase the score and surrendered to the home bowlers at just 139 runs with the loss of eight wickets and lost the game by 18 runs. The win proved to be KKR’s ninth group-stage win out of their 12 games.

As the two-time IPL winners made it to the knockout stage of the tournament and became the first team to do so, co-owner Juhi Chawla was seen jumping for joy. The Bollywood actress was joined by co-owner Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter Suhana Khan and Ananya Panday. The video was shared on the official page of the franchise and has garnered several likes and comments from the franchise’s fans. 

The game also saw West Indies all-rounder Sunil Narine completing 550 dismissals in the T20Is. With this, he became the third bowler in the world to take 550 wickets in the shortest format just after Dwayne Bravo and Rashid Khan.
