The Smriti Mandhana-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Women pulled off a humdinger on Friday, March 15 as they knocked out the defending champions in Mumbai Indians Women to make to their first-ever final in WPL. It was Ellyse Perry’s all-round show which helped the side to advance into the final and set up a clash with Meg Lanning-led Delhi Capitals.
However, they put up a strong comeback after a disappointing outing last season, they are still to utilize their signing of Kate Cross. The Royal Challengers Bangalore Women secured the services of Cross as an additional seamer in their ranks but hasn’t given a game to her till now.
Although the England cricketer remains to be an integral part of the side, in a video going viral, she surprised her fellow England cricketer Alex Hartley with an RCB jersey. The 32-year-old presented Hartley with an RCB jersey with Alex printed on the back. Hartley, who recently became the first female coach in PSL, was left stunned by this gesture, with her reaction going viral.

Speaking of the match, the RCB Women after winning the toss, put up 135 runs on the board, courtesy Ellyse Perry’s 66 off 50 balls. However, this time around the defending champions did not get off a flier and scored only 37 runs at the loss of a wicket in the powerplay and with wickets falling at regular intervals, the MI Women fell short of five runs, knocking them out of the tournament.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore Women will now take on Delhi Capitals Women in the summit clash on Sunday, March 17 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
