The ongoing season of Big Bash League 2022 has been nothing short of any drama. From some exceptional cricket on the field to various off-the-field controversies, it has been an action-packed tournament in Australia. Sydney Sixers, who were struggling to put up a playing XI for the grand finale, somehow managed to turn up with an aim to defend their crown against Perth Scorchers on Friday.

The first half of the match was a topsy-turvy one with both sides having a few good phases. After Sixers had put Scorchers in trouble with the score reading 25/4 in 6 overs, the batting side bounced back through fifties from Ashton Turner and Laurie Evans and eventually posted a total of 171/6 in 20 overs. While it was an action-packed innings, it was the last ball which was indeed hilarious yet dramatic, which fans and commentators really enjoyed.

After Laurie Evans had mistimed his shot off the bowling of Ben Dwarshuis, the ball went to the long-on region. The throw came slowly towards the keeper's end and the run-out opportunity was missed. But the major highlight of the sequence of events was what was happening at the non-striker's end.

Umpire Phil Gillespie was running backwards in order to get into a perfect position to judge a run-out chance if it took place at the non-striker's end. However, in the process, he tripped over and unfortunately fell on the ground in a hilarious moment for everyone amid all the tension. Luckily, no damage was done and he was fit and fine, but not before giving a blockbuster funny moment for the fans.
