Last month, Liverpool were crowned champions for the second time in the Premier League history after they defeated Tottenham Hotspur by 5-1 margin. With a comprehensive win over Hotspur, Liverpool moved out of reach of their nearest rivals in the table, becoming the seventh team to seal the title so early in the tournament. Moreover, it became the record-equalling 20th time in the top flight, Arne Slot led the club to glory in his first season in charge.

While their only other Premier League win came in 2019-20 under Jurgen Klopp during the COVID-19, it was the second for them and a memorable one, especially for players like Trent Alexander-Arnold, and others. However, after the conclusion of their season, the club doubled their celebrations as they carried a bus parade on Monday.

In the videos going viral on social media, a man, dressed in black, plowed the vehicle into the crowd, injuring more than 45. Moreover, a little more than 20 people were treated at the site. As reported by Dave Kitchin of North West Ambulance Service, at least four children were injured during the incident. Other reports have claimed that four victims, including a child, were trapped under the van and the firefighters lifted the vehicle to release them.

“It has cast a very dark shadow over what had been a joyous day for the city,” City Council leader Liam Robinson said at a late night news conference. Moreover, one of the witnesses of the incident, Harry Rashid said, as quoted by AP, “It was extremely fast. Initially, we just heard the pop, pop, pop of people just being knocked off the bonnet of a car.”

Rashid also added that the crowd charged the halted vehicle and began smashing windows. “But then he put his foot down again and just plowed through the rest of them, he just kept going. It was horrible. And you could hear the bumps as he was going over the people,” he further added while adding that it looked deliberate.
