new project 16

Melbourne Stars are close to winning Melbourne Derby in an ongoing Big Bash League at Docklands Stadium, in Melbourne. While chasing 163, Stars got the perfect start to the run chase as wicket-keeper batter Joe Clarke and Thomas Rogers (27 off 23) added 88 runs for the first wicket.

While the duo was cruising ahead with regular boundaries at Docklands stadium, a brilliant catch by Will Sutherland at the boundary rope provided Renegades with their first breakthrough in the second innings.

It was the last delivery of the ninth over, which Rogers smoked at wide long-on, but Sutherland timed his jump to perfection, threw the ball up and came back in to complete the catch. While Sutherland has been quite expensive in the match as he has conceded 25 runs in his two overs, his brilliant catch at the rope will surely be one of the talking points.

While batting first, Renegades scored 162/7 in 20 overs on the back of Sam Harper's 51 off 36 followed by a blitz knock from Jonathan Wells (44 off 24). For Stars, Liam Hatcher and Brody Couch picked two wickets each. Meanwhile, Kane Richardson (2/15) and Fawad Ahmed (1/20) took the wickets for the Renegades.
