Pakistan didn't do too many things wrong at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Wednesday. While they did lose the toss and were asked to bowl first, this was perhaps their most clinical performance as a whole. The Men in Green's pace attack led by Shaheen Afridi who finished with figures of 2/24 restricted the BlackCaps to 152/4 after which Pakistan's top order fired together for the first time this entire tournament.

Captain Babar Azam along with opening partner Mohammad Rizwan rose to the occasion as they struck respective half-centuries. Moreover, they scored at a brisk pace and did not any opportunity to the Kiwis. However, on a rare occasion where Pakistan erred was when Rizwan got out just before the finish line. He was the well-set batter on 57 and would have ideally liked to take Pakistan over the line.

But in the final ball of the 17th over, Trent Boult, probably aiming for the yorker, bowled a wide full toss which Rizwan couldn't manage to time properly. Glenn Phillips, at deep cover, took a catch which sent the batter back. However, Phillips was also alert enough to throw the ball at the non-striker's end for the run-out.
