The much-awaited match between India and Pakistan was nothing short of an entertainer. The Men in Blue continued their dominance over their near neighbours Pakistan after they pulled off a thrilling six-run win in a neck-and-neck battle at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York in the  T20 World Cup 2024 .

After being bowled out for the score of 119 first time in the history of T20I, courtesy three-wicket hauls from Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf, they successfully defended the total. In return, the Rohit Sharma-led side restricted the Men in Green to 113/7, thanks to Jasprit Bumrah, who finished with the figures of 3/14 in his four-over spell.

However, early in the Pakistan batting inning, Indian pacer Mohammad Siraj had an intense moment with Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan. Siraj, who was introduced into the attack and was handed the ball to bowl the second over, hit Rizwan on the hand. The incident happened on the final ball of the second over when Siraj attempted to run Rizwan out, but seeing the ball coming, the latter ducked and in the process got hit on his right hand.

Although, this wasn’t an intentional attempt, the Indian bowler was quick to apologise for his act seeing Rizwan in pain.

Notably, India defended their lowest targets in T20Is, earlier being against Zimbabwe in Harare in 2016. Furthermore, India not only extended their lead over Pakistan to 7-1 in T20 World Cups, but now has most wins against an opponent in T20 World Cup history.
