Team India’s condition was frail in the final Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025, getting played at The Oval, when England openers Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley put up a solid 92-run stand for the opening wicket off just 77 balls. Akash Deep got rid of Duckett and delivered the first breakthrough to the visitors, but the likes of Ollie Pope and Joe Root were posing a threat for Shubman Gill’s men.

Crawley also went back to the dugout after notching up quick 64 runs off 57 balls, and then, the eyes were set on the pair of Pope and Root. Both stitched a 13-run partnership when Mohammed Siraj struck England by trapping the hosts’ stand-in captain in front of wickets.

After hunting Pope’s scalp, Siraj’s next victim was Root, who got lbw after the pacer’s delivery hit the veteran’s pads and he was caught shielding the stumps. Jacob Bethell also couldn't spend time on the wicket and fell against Siraj in the similar manner. With the three back-to-back wickets, Siraj brought India back in the match.

England lose grasp over The Oval Test in second session on Day 2

Siraj’s spell has emboldened Prasidh Krishna, who picked up the scalps of Jamie Smith and Jamie Overton to push England into bit of a trouble. Smith got dismissed after scoring only eight, while Overton couldn’t score any runs after playing four balls.

As of writing, England are 215/7 in 42.5 overs. Harry Brook is batting at an unbeaten 33 off 36. Siraj has registered figures of 3/66 in 12 overs, while Krishna has bagged three wickets in 11.5 overs after splurging 51 runs. Akash Deep has also got one wicket in the form of Duckett, who was looking dangerous. India will look to bundle out England as soon as possible in the third session to make things easy for themselves in the match
