In the main event of the WWE Money in the Bank (MITB) PLE, emanating from the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, R-Truth aka Ron Killings made a shocking return to WWE on Saturday, June 7, just under a week after getting released from the promotion. He took out WWE Champion John Cena by hitting him on his head with his own championship belt, which allowed Cody Rhodes to pin him in the middle of the ring with the Cross Rhodes finishing move in a tag team match in which he was partnered up with World Heavyweight Champion Jey Uso, while Logan Paul was teaming up with the Leader of the Cenation.
It was on the morning of Sunday, June 1, when R-Truth took to his official X account to announce his release from WWE, bringing down the curtain to the illustrious run wherein he became arguably the greatest comic act in the promotion. He wrote at the time, “Im sorry to inform you all. I just got released from WWE. I want to thank WWE for the ride, but MOSTLY I want to thank each and EVERYONE OF YOU who was along for the ride, Thank you for all the love, support, and appreciation you have given me over the years. Thank you.”
But when John Cena had taken out Cody Rhodes in the match at WWE MITB with his championship belt, R-Truth made his way inside the ring with a vengeance on the WWE Champion in a mask and a hoodie before unveiling himself to the shock of everyone present at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles and the fans all over the world. He had thrown hands like there was no tomorrow before picking up the championship belt and nailing John Cena on his hand, allowing Cody Rhodes to pick up the victory for his team.
All part of the show: Paul "Triple H" Levesque on whether R-Truth was released from WWE last week
In the post-show press conference for WWE MITB, when Paul “Triple H” Levesque was asked about whether R-Truth really got released from the company and if the fans played a role in his return to the promotion in such a short span of time. In response, Paul Levesque had a huge grin on his face before telling the world that it was “all part of the show”.
With R-Truth back in the WWE mix once again, it will be very interesting to see how his budding rivalry with John Cena, his childhood hero, takes shape in weeks and months to come.
