Gaikwad tried hitting away a slightly high full toss which seemed to be a no-ball.  The on-field umpire also declared the ball as a no-ball before Hardik Pandya referred the call which was eventually overturned. Gaikwad was disappointed as he walked back to the dressing room.

Going back to the knock, Gaikwad was in magnificent form from ball one as he smashed all Gujarat bowlers all over the Narendra Modi Stadium. This blistering start allowed him to reach his half-century in just 55 balls.  After reaching that milestone, the Pune-born batter continued scoring at a high rate and racked up nine fours and 11 sixes.   On the back of this knock, CSK managed to post a massive 179-run total for the Titans.

Reacting to the first innings, Moeen Ali complimented Gaikwad in the mid-innings interview. Ali also expressed that the team would have been happy with a few more runs. He said, "It's a score which is great to have. Little disappointed. Should've got 15-20 more."

"Ruturaj was outstanding. It was a decent pitch once you went through your first 5-6 balls. Chennai support has always been outstanding. When I was batting, it felt like the loudest crowd I've experienced in my career," he further added.
