Shreyas Iyer, the Indian right-handed batter, smashed back-to-back sixes against the high pace of Jofra Archer during India’s pursuit of 249-run target after losing their openers early. In his first international appearance after quite some time, the 30-year-old was in impressive form with the bat, taking the attack to the English bowlers as he got past his fifty in just 30 balls, to put India in a strong position in the run chase.
During the seventh over of the Indian innings, Shreyas Iyer latched onto the shorter length delivery from Jofra Archer, and deposited it to the deep mid-wicket boundary for a maximum in the grandstand at the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) Stadium. On the very next delivery, a bouncer from Archer outside the off stump, Iyer waited late before helping it on its way towards the deep third man boundary for another six.

Shreyas Iyer kept his attacking instincts going against all the English bowlers, smashing Brydon Carse for three fours in four balls before not allowing the spin duo of Adil Rashid and Jacob Bethell to settle in. Before losing his wicket to Bethell lbw, Iyer had struck a couple of crisp boundaries in his innings of 59 runs in just 36 balls with nine fours and two maximums.
