Indian Women skipper Harmanpreet Kaur will represent Melbourne Renegades for a second season in the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) during the eighth edition of the T20 tournament later this year. Notably, Kaur has played some significant match-winning knocks for the Renegades and was the leading run-scorer and wicket-taker for the side last year. She amassed 406-runs at an average of 58 and scalped 15 wickets.

James Rosengarten, the General Manager of Melbourne Renegades, welcomed the development and claimed that Harmanpreet Kaur is one of the best players in the world. "Her record speaks for itself. She was outstanding for us last season and was a match-winner on multiple occasions, she had a prolific impact across the tournament with both bat and ball," he was quoted on Melbourne's website.

He further hailed the Indian skipper for having perfect composure to play in such a crucial tournament and stated that her leadership capabilities will be an asset to the team. "She was a great fit both on and off the field and bought into our team environment," he said.

He concluded by saying that Melbourne cricket fans will be excited to see such a top-notch player representing their favourite side in WBBL. Even the Indian cricketer also expressed her delight as she claimed that it was an honour to play for Melbourne Renegades.

"I am excited to be coming back to the Renegades. I enjoyed my time with the club as the staff and management helped me to produce one of my best cricket," she said. Kaur stated that she was just trying to do her best for the team and she was pleased to pull off the kind of performance that was appreciated by all.

"We supported each other as a team last year and were able to get some good results, but we still have plenty of room to improve. Hopefully, we can do that, make the finals again and put ourselves in a position to compete for the title," she added.
