Leicester City played West Ham United at the London Stadium during the matchday 27 of the Premier League (PL). West Ham were able to come away with a 2-0 victory courtesy of goals from Tomas Soucek and Jannik Vestergaard. The loss placed Leicester at 19th position in the PL table with just 17 points from their 27 games, and in the relegation zone. Their new manager Ruud van Nistelrooy who took over in December 2024 spoke to the media post his team’s defeat.

At the end of this conversation, the reporter asked Ruud about how he was keeping the hopes alive for his team after being in this relegation spot. He responded by talking about "believing in work and in turning this around by literally moving forward and not sitting back".

Times of turmoil for Leicester City and Ruud

Ever since Ruud van Nistelrooy was appointed as the new manager of Leicester City, his team have played 16 games in all competitions and of those, he has managed to get only four victories. They are currently second from bottom in the Premier League table and got knocked out from the fourth round of the domestic FA Cup after losing to Manchester United. The current loss against West Ham also means that Leicester have now got defeted in four games in a row in the Premier League.

Ruud was appointed as the interim manager of Manchester United for a very brief period after the sacking of Erik Ten Hag, where he had a solid record of three wins and one draw in the four games that he was in-charge. He was later moved on to make way for Ruben Amorim, who was appointed as the new manager of the Red Devils.
