West Ham United forward Michail Antonio is in ‘stable condition’ at a central London hospital after suffering a car accident in the Essex area on a Saturday afternoon, December 7. In a statement released by West Ham United on their official X account, the Premier League club revealed that Michail Antonio is fortunately in a ‘conscious’ state and ‘communicating’ with people at the hospital while being under close supervision at the current time.
Notably, as per the report from the BBC, Essex County Fire and Rescue Service were at the scene of the car accident involving Michail Antonio, where they released him since he was trapped in his own Ferrari on a Saturday afternoon. Meanwhile, the Essex Police released a statement wherein they confirmed that the officers are now investigating the car accident, which was quite a devastating one according to pictures, while asking for witnesses and dash cam footage in the Essex area.
West Ham United asked everyone to respect Michail Antonio and his family’s privacy
"We were called shortly after 12.50 p.m. on Saturday 7 December to Coppice Row, Epping, following reports of what is believed to be a single vehicle collision involving a Ferrari. Emergency services attended and the driver has been taken to hospital. The vehicle has been recovered and we are no longer on scene,” remarked the Essex Police. Apart from giving the update on the current condition of Michail Antonio, West Ham United asked everyone to respect the player and his family’s privacy, while stating that they will give a further update about him in due course.
Michail Antonio, who is the record goal-scorer for West Ham United, 68 goals in 268 matches thus far, took part in all of their matches in the 2024-25 season, will be missing their upcoming game against Wolves at home in Premier League. Moreover, Steve McLaren, the head coach of Jamaica national football team, where Michail Antonio plays international matches, expressed his support for the 34-year-old in his bid to recover from the car accident.
