The Cricket Windies (West Indies Cricket) has announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against India. The board has named the squad after a four-day camp at the Kensington Oval. Notable inclusions in the side includes that of Caribbean all-rounder Shimron Hetmyer and pacer Oshane Thomas.

The side has recalled power-hitter Shimron Hetmyer for the series, starting Thursday, July 27 at the Kensington Oval. It is to be noted that the Rajasthan Royals batter hasn’t featured for his national side for more than a year now and was last seen the pink jersey for RR in IPL 2023. The left-handed batter last played an ODI for the Caribbean side in July 2021 in a match against Australia.
“We welcome Oshane and Shimron back into the group. Both have played at the international level before, with some success, and we believe they will fit well into the set-up. Oshane brings pace and is a potential wicket-take with the new ball. Shimron’s style of batting will offer a lot especially in the middle stage of the innings and he is also a potential ‘finisher’,” CWI lead selector Dr. Desmond Haynes said as quoted in the press release.
The Shai Hope-led side also includes the name of fast bowler Jayden Seales and spinners Yannic Cariah and Gudakesh Motie, who return after rehabilitation post respective injuries. Moreover, Nicholas Pooran and Jason Holder miss out as they were unavailable for selection whereas Keemo Paul remains out with injury.
The two sides will play the three-match series from July 27 to August 1. While the first two matches of the ODI-leg will take place at the Kensington Oval in Barbados, the third and final match of the ODI series will be played at the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad before the boys move for the five-match T20I series.
