Pakistan vs England ODI World Cup 2023 fixture under threat

Pakistan’s World Cup 2023 fixture against England has come under scrutiny as the security at their game in Kolkata can become an issue. Pakistan and England are set to lock horns on November 12 in Kolkata. The Kolkata Police has likely informed the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) that they may not be able to provide security during the game due to Kali puja.

 

Road Safety World Series to take place in September in England
In a big update, it is being reported that the third edition of the Road Safety World Series will take place outside of India, for the first time. However, the official announcement on the same is being awaited, as reported by ESPNcricinfo, the tournament will take place in England. Additionally, Pakistan is set to feature in the next edition, making the tournament to a nine-team affair now.

 

Pat Cummins to miss 3-match ODI series against India

Australia skipper Pat Cummins is set to miss the upcoming three-match ODI series against India before the ODI World Cup 2023. This comes after Cummins suffered a suspected broken wrist in the fifth Ashes Test and is said to not recover in time for the series. 

 

Former Pakistan cricketer Imran Khan sentenced to three years in prison

F ormer Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan was sentenced for three years in the Toshakhana case. Khan was accused of profiting from the sales of expensive gifts, while he was in power. Not only this, but the former Pakistan PM has also been barred from participating in political activities for the next five years.  

 

Inzamam-ul-Haq to become Pakistan's new chief selector: Reports
Former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq is expected to become the new chief selector of the national side according to reports on August 5. The sources closely associated with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) revealed that the 53-year-old has agreed to become the chief selector after a three-year stint from 2016 to 2019.

 

Ireland announces its 15-member squad for three-match T20I series against India

Cricket Ireland announced 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against India, starting August 18.   Ireland has included all-rounders Fionn Hand and Gareth Delany. While Cricket Ireland has recalled Hand in the shortest format of the game, Gareth Delany returns after rehabilitation from injury.

 

Rohan Kunnummal opens up on Virat Kohli-like celebration

In a video shared by the BCCI Domestic, match-winner of the Deodhar Trophy final opened up on emulating Virat Kohli’s celebration. When asked by the skipper Mayank Agarwal, the Kerala-born cricketer said that he had already planned the celebrations. Rohan said, “Obviously, yes. The first day I was thinking how I will celebrate if I get a century. I was thinking from the first day itself.” He added, “I planned that before, if I get a century, I will celebrate like this.”

Later, in a comedy of errors, fielders’ standing at various positions tried their best to stop the ball, but it ended up hitting the boundary.
