Team India won their record eighth Asia Cup title after defeating Sri Lanka in the 2023 final on Sunday, September 17 at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo as Mohammed Siraj delivered a dream performance with the ball. On the other hand, South Africa won the fifth and final ODI against Australia to clinch the series 3-2.

India win their eighth Asia Cup title after thrashing Sri Lanka
Rohit Sharma-led side performed tremendously against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup 2023 final, especially Mohammed Siraj, who picked up six wickets. Team India restricted Sri Lanka to 50 runs in just 15.2 overs as Hardik Pandya (3) and Jasprit Bumrah (1) also showed lethal bowling. During India's batting, Ishan Kishan was promoted to the top with Shubman Gill as both the youngsters won the match for India in just 6.1 overs.

South Africa clinch five-match ODI series against Australia
After losing the first two ODI matches against Australia, South Africa bounced back to win the next three games and clinched the series against the mighty Aussies. The Proteas defeated Australia by 122 runs in the fifth ODI as the visitors failed to reach the target of 316 runs. Aiden Markram (93), David Miller (63), and a quickfire knock from Marco Jansen (47 off 23) helped South Africa to post a total of 315 runs with a loss of nine wickets.
While chasing the target, skipper Mitchell Marsh (71) and Marnus Labuschagne (44) were the only two Aussie batters who played well against the South African bowlers as Marco Jansen (5) and Keshav Maharaj (4) picked the majority of wickets. Australia were bowled out on 193 runs in 34.1 overs.
England's squad for ODI World Cup 2023: Harry Brook in, Jason Roy out
The reigning ODI World Cup champions, England have announced their 15-member squad for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023 in India and have named youngster Harry Brook in the team as they snubbed veteran Jason Roy. England will start their World Cup campaign against New Zealand in a rematch of the last World Cup final on October 5.

After losing the five-match ODI series against South Africa, the five-time ODI World Cup champions, Australia are scheduled to travel to India for a three-match ODI series. The Aussies have named the 18-member squad for the India series and star players like Steven Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Starc, and Pat Cummins have returned to the squad after missing out on the Proteas series.
Cash prize announced for ground staff in Sri Lanka for service in Asia Cup 2023
The Asia Cup 2023 is dawn and dusted as Team India lifted their record eighth title after defeating hosts Sri Lanka on Sunday. The BCCI secretary and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President Jay Shah joined hands with Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) President Shammi Silva to announce a cash prize of USD 50,000 (approximately INR 42 lakh) for the groundsman who worked tirelessly during the Asia Cup 2023 in Sri Lanka. The prize money will be distributed among the curators and ground staff at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo and the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy.
South Africa pacers to undergo fitness tests ahead of World Cup 2023
South Africa defeated Australia in the five-match ODI series and looked strong ahead of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023, however, they missed on their key pacers during the series. Anrich Nortje and Sisanda Magala, who were named in South Africa's initial 15-member squad for the tournament, are scheduled to undergo fitness tests this week to determine their availability for the ODI World Cup. South Africa will leave for the World Cup in India on September 23. Andile Phehlukwayo will replace the player, who failed to make the cut for the marquee tournament.
ODI World Cup 2023: Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel injury update
After winning the Asia Cup 2023, Team India will shift their momentum to the three-match ODI series against Australia ahead of the upcoming ODI World Cup. However, the Men in Blue will be looking after the fitness of their star players including Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel. While Iyer suffered an injury ahead of the Super 4s clash against Pakistan, Axar suffered an injury during India's game against Bangladesh in the Super 4s.
After winning the Asia Cup 2023, India skipper Rohit Sharma addressed the media and gave updates on Iyer and Axar's injury. While Iyer is likely to be selected for the Australia series, Axar will take time to recover from his injury.
