In a major development, Sheikh Jassim has pulled out from his bid to buy Manchester United, after the current owners didn’t find it to be sufficient. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India will leave no stone unturned in hosting the 2036 edition of the Olympics. Speaking of Tennis, India veteran Rohan Bopanna and his Australian partner Matthew Ebden made it to the ATP final by qualifying for the Shanghai Masters final.

Sheikh Jassim withdraws from bidding process to buy Manchester United: Reports

The businessman from Qatar, Sheikh Jassim has reportedly withdrawn from the bidding process to buy Manchester United after he had offered more than £5 billion for 100 per cent ownership of the club. The decision from the 64-year-old came after the current owners Glazers Family didn’t find his bid for Manchester United to be sufficient, which has now left the British businessman Sir Jim Ratcliffe as the only other potential suitor for the club.

Rangers appoint Philippe Clement as new manager on three and half-year contract

Philippe Clement, the former manager of Monaco and Club Brugge, has been appointed in the same role at Rangers, for a three-and-a-half-year contract, after his predecessor Michael Beale was sacked earlier this October. The 49-year-old, who has been a former defender for Belgium, is coming off a sacking by Monaco this summer, but still the Chairman of Rangers, John Bennett called him “the outstanding candidate across all the key criteria.”

FA’s Inclusion and Advisory Board (IAB) chairman apologises for old posts on Israel-Palestine conflict

Deji Davies, the chair of the Inclusion and Advisory Board (IAB) of the Football Association (FA) has issued an apology for old posts on the Israel-Palestine conflict, on the one-year anniversary in his current role. The non-executive director of Brentford sent out a post on X in which he talked about his social media content from 2013 “that have caused offence when read in the context of horrific recent events in Israel and Palestine.”

Barcelona show interest to sign Jadon Sancho from Manchester United next summer: Reports

India will leave no stone unturned in organising Olympics 2036: PM Narendra Modi

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India will leave no stone unturned in organising the 2036 edition of the Olympics. The Indian PM was speaking at an IOC session in Mumbai. Modi said,  “India is eager to host the Olympics in the country. India will leave no stone unturned in the preparation for the successful organisation of the Olympics in 2036, this is the dream of 140 crore Indians. This dream has to be fulfilled with your cooperation and support. I am very confident that India will get consistent support from the IOC.”

Saina Nehwal poses with famous footballer; asks Instagram fam to take a guess

India's badminton icon Saina Nehwal posed with a renowned footballer at an airport. The Olympic medalist then asked her fans to guess the name of the footballer. Nehwal met USA footballer Christian Pulisic. Pulisic, 25, signed for AC Milan earlier this year after spending four years at English club Chelsea. 

Posting a picture of herself with the US footballer, Nehwal wrote on Instagram,  “Bumped into this popular footballer… Any guesses."

MotoGP

Francesco Bagnaia wins Indonesia MotoGP 2023

Ducati’s Francesco Bagnaia came from 13th spot on the grid and claimed victory at the Indonesia MotoGP 2023.  Bagnaia was just ahead of Aprilia’s Maverick Vinales, who finished second, while Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo, the 2021 world champion, secured third place on the podium. 

With his win, Bagnia now sits on the top of the riders’ standings with 346 points, with Martin (328) in second and Bezzecchi (283) in third.

Rohan Bopanna-Matthew Ebden qualify for Nitto ATP Finals

Indian tennis veteran Rohan Bopanna, along with his Australian partner Matthew Ebden earned their Nitto ATP Finals Team Debut. The Indo-Australian duo secured their berth in the season finale after making it to the final of the Rolex Shanghai Masters. Bopanna and Ebden will join the likes of Ivan Dodig / Austin Krajicek and Wesley Koolhof / Neal Skupski at the year-end championships, which are slated to be hosted at the  Pala Alpitour in Turin from 12-19 November.

Pavithra Venkatesh wins  National Open Athletics Championships 2023 event

Pavithra Venkatesh, who represented India at the Asian Games 2023 won the women’s pole vault event at the National Open Athletics Championships 2023 in Bengaluru. The Indian athlete won the yellow metal with her 4:05m jump while Baranica Elangovan finished second on the podium (4.00m) with Mariya Jaison (3.80m) finishing third.
