The Indian Premier League (IPL) has brought back its Super Sixes competition. In the game between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on April 5, the hosts looked dominating but in the end, rain washed out the game which led to the distribution of one point to both sides. With the match ending in no result, the Orange Army are officially out of the IPL 2025 playoffs race, with only seven points in 11 outings. DC, on the other hand, will be relieved as they were struggling in the game after scoring only 133/7 in their 20 overs. Delhi have now collected 13 points in 11 matches with six wins, four losses and the washed out game against the Orange Army.

Before the start of the contest in Hyderabad, the IPL Super Sixes competition made a comeback. The competition aims to deliver extra entertainment to the league's supporters and also provides players the opportunity to exhibit their brutal smashing prowess. Each side assigns a maximum of two or three players to participate in the competition and a batter gets one or two opportunities to smash the longest six against the delivery by a ball machine. The player who succeeds in hitting the longest maximum wins a cash prize and the batter with the overall longest six-hitter is handed a larger prize.

Abhinav Manohar hits largest six in the first Super Six Competition of IPL 2025

Prior to the start of the contest between SRH and DC, the Orange Army nominated Aniket Verma and Abhinav Manohar while Jake Fraser-McGurk and Sameer Rizvi represented Capitals. The competition was won by Abhinav, who clobbered a 93-metre six.

Following Abhinav, his SRH teammate Aniket also smashed a 91-metre maximum. DC players Fraser and Rizvi could hit only 80 and 82-metre sixes respectively. Stubbs couldn’t win the Super Six competition for his team but he exuded confidence with his bat in the game. His unbeaten 41 off 36 helped DC reach a fighting score 133/7 despite reeling at 29/5 in 7.1 overs.
