India’s Neeraj Chopra is set to compete at the World Athletics Championships 2023 - the javelin throw final on Saturday, August 26. The World Athletics Championships 2023 are being held in the Hungarian capital of Budapest which started on August 19 and will conclude on August 27.
The Olympic champion breached the automatic qualifying mark of 83.00m with his season-best throw of 88.77 m. The throw here also saw Chopra breach the Paris 2024 Olympics qualifying mark, the window of which began on July 1, 2023. The 25-year-old is now looking for the Gold medal, as he already has a silver in his bag from last season. Other Indian athletes, including Manu DP, who was in Group A with Neeraj Chopra, finished sixth overall across both groups and qualified for the final courtesy of his throw of 81.31m.
