India and Australia are squaring off in the first ODI of the three-match series at the Wankhede Stadium. While Steve Smith took over the charge as captain in Pat Cummins’ absence, India also saw a change at helm as Hardik Pandya replaced Rohit Sharma in the opening ODI.
While Pandya won his first toss at ODI skipper, he was seen gifting a potted plant to his Australian counterpart prior to winning the toss. This gesture was done as a part of BCCI’s initiative to restore the environment.

Talking about the ongoing ODI, the Men in Blue with open with Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill with Rohit Sharma missing the first ODI. Meanwhile the visitors will miss the services of Alex Carey as he has left for Australia after the wicketkeeper-batter wasn’t feeling his best. The Steve Smith-led side has also not named David Warner in the XI as the opener failed to regain complete fitness.
