On Sunday, March 9, the Rohit Sharma-led Team India etched history as they became the first team to win three ICC Men’s Champions Trophy titles. After being put to field first, India restricted New Zealand to 251. However, both teams had their moments on the field, Rohit Sharma led from the front as they chased the target with four wickets remaining and an over to spare.

While it was their third Champions Trophy win after earlier sharing the title with Sri Lanka in 2002 and lifting the second title under MS Dhoni’s captaincy in 2013, the celebrations were no less. Moreover, it was the second successive ICC tournament that India won under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma after ending the 11-trophy drought in 2024 T20 World Cup.

No bus parade for India’s Champions Trophy 2025 winning squad

Recalling how the whole country celebrated India’s 2024 title win, fans are expecting a similar celebration once again. After India lifted the T20 World Cup 2024 after beating South Africa, the BCCI organised a bus parade at Mumbai’s Marine Drive followed by a felicitation ceremony at Wankhede Stadium, but this time, a similar celebration will not be seen.

According a news report by IANS, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has no plans to celebrate this win. According the published information, players will leave Dubai separately to reach their respective hometowns. The players will take a short break before joining their respective IPL sides ahead of the 2025 edition, which is scheduled to start from March 22.
