Ryan Garcia, the American professional boxer, had an Instagram exchange with a retired combat sports athlete Dillon Danis about whether they could compete in an exhibition boxing match or MMA. It led to Garcia accepting the challenge of Danis for his MMA debut, and shortly after, Misfits Boxing announced that they will make a formal offer to host the fight.

Notably, Dillon Danis had announced his retirement from combat sports on November 15, 2023, after he was reportedly released from his Bellator contract. The last time Dillon Danis fought against a professional boxer inside a squared circle, he lost by disqualification to Logan Paul after getting a pummelling for the majority of the fight.

One of the latest posts from Happy Punch on their official Instagram account, which had a screenshot of the interaction between Ryan Garcia and Dillon Danis, was captioned, “Ryan Garcia vs Dillon Danis. Breaking: Misfits Boxing are set to make a formal offer to host this fight!”

Dillon Danis wrote in direct message, “We should do a exhibition boxing match since we probably couldn’t do pro cause the weight difference or mma,” and in response, Ryan Garcia said, “I’m down for MMA for real.” When Danis wrote about his concern for the MMA potentially not happening, “Don’t be just saying words we can make that happen,” Garcia responded, “I’m down hit up Dana.”

Just a few hours earlier, Ryan Garcia had gone off on Dillon Danis on his Instagram Live, and at one point, he said, “You literally got beat up by Logan Paul.”
