The Australian opening batsman David Warner has been retained by Delhi Capitals for IPL 2024 for the third consecutive season after 2022 and 2023, but the question among cricket fans is that will this be his last IPL season? However, there is no conformity on the same but here in this article we will have look on it considering various factors into account.

  • David Warner played his last T20I game for Australia during 2022 T20 World Cup against Afghanistan and post that he hasn't even played even one T20I for the six-time world champions, which means he isn't in T20 scheme of things to play the upcoming T20 World Cup in West Indies and the USA.

  • David Warner's last T20 game was against CSK in May 2023 and post that he wasn't seen in any other T20 game, similarly to Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. He scored only 99 runs from 6 innings for Sydney Thunder in BBL 2022-23.

  • David Warner was sacked from SRH as a player and captain in IPL 2021 after some misunderstanding with the management and later he came to his old franchise DC in 2022 and got an opportunity to captain the side in 2023 in the absence of Rishabh Pant. But with Pant all set to mark his return in 2024, Warner will not be the first-choice captain, which is an indication of him not being seen as main player in the squad.

  • David Warner is currently 37 years old and IPL 2025 being a mega auction, they will be able to retain only four players. With Warner not being seen as captaincy material and looking at the futuristic angle by the franchise, 2024 IPL could end up being his last.

Looking at the above points we might come to a conclusion that 2024 IPL could be Warner's last season unless he comes out to perform extraordinarily well in this season.
