Star Australian bowler Nathan Lyon revealed getting sledged by Indian batter Yashasvi Jaiswal during the opening BGT Test in Perth. The first Test of the five-match series saw the rising batting superstar getting on the nerves of Australia's power-packed bowling quartet. While Jaiswal got dismissed for a duck in the first innings of his first Test match in Australia, the Indian batter went on to smash 161 runs in the second innings of the game, to guide the side to a smooth 295-run win.
Not only this, but during the opening Test of the series, Jaiswal also won the mental battle against the Baggy Greens. The Indian batter made it to the headlines for sledging senior bowler Mitchell Starc during the game. However, ahead of the second day/night game in Adelaide, Australia spinner Nathan Lyon has revealed that it was not only Starc, but he too was sledged by the young batter at the Optus Stadium.
You legend, but you old: Nathan Lyon reveals getting sledged by Yashasvi Jaiswal in Perth Test
Speaking ahead of the 2nd Test in Adelaide, Lyon revealed that Jaiswal walked up to him after his century and called him old. Lyon said, "Young Jaiswal, he said that you legend, but you old, he said that to me when I was bowling. He said that to me when he was muscling about at 120, but ya, it's all good fun. I told him that.” Notably, on Day 2 of the the 22-year-old had told Mitchell Starc, “You are coming too slow at me.”
Notably, after recording a 295-run win in the first Test, and six-wicket win in the practice match against PM XI, India will now be up against the counterparts for the second Test of the series. It is set to be a pink-ball day/night Test, scheduled from December 6 to December 10 at The Adelaide Oval. The match will also see Indian skipper Rohit Sharma returning to the squad after missing the first game due to a short paternity break.
