Ayush Mhatre is on roller coaster form in the Youth Test series that is underway between England U-19 and India U-19. After a dismal performance and a string of low scores in the five match Youth ODI series, the 18-year-old youngster made a remarkable comeback in the Youth Test series. Ayush scored 102 runs off 115 to help India to score a mammoth 540 runs in the first innings of the first Youth test. His current form is leading to his comparison to senior players like Yashasvi Jaiswal, his former teammate whose List-A record he broke with a 181 off 117 balls in the 2024/25 Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Continuing his form in the second Youth test, Ayush Mhatre delivered another stellar show with the bat, scoring 126 runs off 80 deliveries comprising 13 fours and six sixes. In the first innings also, Mhatre made 80 runs but Vihaan Malhotra played a pivotal knock of 120 runs. The match is impacted by rain on its final day, with India U-19 still requiring 65 runs to win the game. The game was a draw but Mhatre’s leadership including his reportedly lengthy discussions with umpire to maximise play and batting prowess have kept India competitive in a challenging encounter.

From a challenging Youth ODI series, where he managed only 27 runs in four matches, to leading India’s batting in red-ball cricket showcases the kind of player he is. His century in the second innings, including sixes and boundaries have kept India’s hopes alive in their chase. with Harvansh Pangalia’s unbeaten 39 providing support. At 265/6, India needed 65 runs with four wickets in hand, but bad light halted play, resulting in the game getting drawn.
Ayush Mhatre’s IPL 2025 stint with Chennai Super Kings, where he scored 240 runs in seven matches, including a 94 off 48 balls against RCB, falling just six runs short of a century was the third-fastest fifty by a teenager in IPL history. Mhatre made his IPL debut on April 20, 2025, against Mumbai Indians (MI) at Wankhede Stadium, his home ground. Batting at number three, a position that had troubled CSK with an average of just 21 runs from their top order, Mhatre announced himself with a fiery 32 off 15 balls, including 4 fours and 2 sixes.
