Indian top-order batter Suryakumar Yadav has been a crucial piece in Team India’s qualification to the semi-final stage in the ongoing T20 World Cup in Australia. In his maiden trip Down Under, Surya continued his incredible run of form and displayed his brilliant range of shots against some of the best bowlers in world cricket.

This top-class batting display has persuaded cricket analysts and fans to present him with the Mr 360 tag which is often used to refer to South African cricketing stalwart AB de Villiers. But the Mumbai-born batter was quick to shun away the title and expressed that he just tries to emulate De Villiers.

While speaking to Star Sports after his Player of the Match performance against Zimbabwe, SKY said, “There is only one 360-degree player in the world, and I will try to play like him". The original Mr 360 AB de Villiers later took to Twitter to react to these comments and said, “You’re very quickly getting there dude, and even more! Well played today.”

In the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia, Suryakumar Yadav has so far scored 225 runs and is the third highest run-scorer in the tournament. He is batting at an average of 75 and is 21 runs behind the highest run-scorer, Virat Kohli. He played one of his best knocks against Zimbabwe where he posted 61 in just 25 balls with six fours and four sixes at a strike rate of 255.

In this incredible performance, Yadav played a ramp shot that allowed the Indian batter to hit a six over the deep fine-leg boundary. Surya explained how he has prepared himself to play the stroke. He said, "I mean you got to understand what the bowler is going to bowl at that time. That is a little predetermined at that moment.”

“I have practised the stroke a lot when I used to play a lot of rubber-ball cricket. So, you got to be thinking about what the bowler is thinking at that time. If the field is in I just back myself to go, there," Suryakumar added.
