With the final Grand Slam tournament - the US Open 2025 set to be played from August 18 to September 7 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Court, French tennis player, Arthur Fils is the latest to withdraw from the men’s singles event. The French international, who was set to return at the Toronto Masters 1000, failed to make a comeback then.
The 21-year-old Frenchman also went on to miss the Cincinnati Open and the Winston-Salem tournament. The decision from Fils came as he continues to sit out following a stress fracture in his back at the Roland-Garros in late May 2025. But just days prior to the singles event, Fils took to social media to confirm his withdrawal for the US Open 2025.

Taking to Instagram story, the French international wrote, “After an injury that kept me away from the court, a warning sign felt during my comeback – first in Toronto, then in Cincinnati – led me to make the difficult but reasonable decision to withdraw from the US Open.” The 21-year-old also clarified that he aims to get back fit before returning to the court strongly.

“This decision was made to allow for a full recovery. I’m working hard every day with my team to come back strong and be ready for this end of season. Thank you all for your support,” the Frenchman added. Later on, the US Open Tennis also took to X to share an update on Fils’ withdrawal.
“Men’s Singles Update: Arthur Fils has withdrawn from the Men’s Singles event. A lucky loser will replace him in the draw,” they wrote on X.
