Jake Paul, the YouTuber-turned-boxer, famously known as “The Problem Child”, will take on WBA Lightweight Champion Gervonta Davis in an exhibition match at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta on November 14, which will be available to stream on Netflix. It is understood that Gervonta Davis’ title will not get put at stake due to the massive difference in weight between him and Jake Paul, who weighs in at 200lbs compared to 135lbs of his opponent.
Notably, in an exhibition match in boxing, no winner is declared while it doesn’t get counted in the professional record of either competitor. The agreement between Jake Paul and Gervonta “Tank” Davis for an exhibition match inside the squared circle was reached on Wednesday, August 20 before it was made official online in a social media post on Netflix.
First, I am going to kill David, then I will go on to slaughter Goliath: Jake Paul
Minutes later, Jake Paul took to his official X account, to give his take on Gervonta Davis, and it wasn’t all pleasantries. He wrote, “Gervonta who has been disrespecting my name for too long. HIs nickname might be Tank, but I’m an FPV drone and I’m about to disable tiny boy. Yes, he’s 1 of the top pound-for-pound boxers in the world, but my motto is anyone, anytime, anyplace, against all odds. And I like my odds. First, I am going to kill David, then I will go on to slaughter Goliath.”
The last part about “Goliath” could be linked to British heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua, who Jake Paul wants to take on in the near future after disposing of Gervonta Davis aka “David”. Moreover, as per the report from BBC Sport. Eddie Hearn, the promoter of Anthony Joshua from Matchroom Boxing, remarked that it is likely for Jake Paul to take on his client when the latter returns from injury next year.
Moreover, Paul is coming into this fight on the back of a victory in June over former world champion in WBC, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, who is now detained in Mexico over a serious allegation while Davis retained his title earlier this year after a draw with Lamont Roach Jr.
