Double Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker has urged young fans to be mindful of the language they speak, stating that it is not ‘cool’ to abuse. The shooter took to social media to share a picture of her while adding a long caption, writing that people should be very mindful of what and how they speak. Bhaker, who bagged two bronze medals for India at the 2024 Paris Olympics, recently clinched a third-podium finish in the Women’s 25m Pistol event at the ISSF World Cup in Hangzhou.
On Instagram, Bhaker penned a note, especially dedicated to her young fans, urging them to not speak foul language and pick their words carefully. She went on to say that the kind of language we choose reflects our personality and the kind of people we are. “The language we choose reflects our personality and the kind of person we are. Choose your words wisely, because over time, you become what you think, what you speak, and what you practice. Using bad language is not cool. Abusing is not cool,” Bhaker stated.
“Let’s keep the definition of cool simple: being hardworking, kind, respectful towards others and yourself, striving to be successful through honesty, and making your parents and your country proud. THAT’S COOL,” she added.
“I’m speaking about this because, over the past few years, the way we perceive abusive language has changed. For many, using such words has become so normal that it’s even considered “cool.” Without realizing it, people casually use degrading and disrespectful language in everyday conversations,” the 24-year-old concluded by saying.
Manu Bhaker to Spearhead the Indian Shooting Contingent in Two Pistol Events at Asian Games 2026
Bhaker is set to compete for a podium finish at the forthcoming Asian Games 2026 in two events. She was named in the Indian 30-member contingent announced by the National Rifle Association (NRAI) last month. Notably, the upcoming continental event will be held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan from September 19 to October 4. Bhaker will participate in the women’s 25m pistol event and the women’s 10m air pistol event. She booked her spot in the contest by finishing second and seventh in the latest trials, respectively.
Apart from her, three other shooters including Vidarsa K. Vinod, former world champion Rudrankksh Patil, and Esha Singh have been selected for two events. While Vinod will participate in the women’s 10m air rifle and 50m rifle 3 positions, Patil is set to compete in men’s 10m air rifle and 50m rifle 3 positions. On the other hand, the newly crowned ISSF World Champion in women’s 25m pistol event, Esha Singh will enter the competition in the women’s 10m air pistol and 25m pistol.
