After a thrilling spectacle of an ODI World Cup last year, the 50-overs format wasn’t quite in the limelight in comparison to Test and T20I cricket, due to no ICC event at the senior level. But still, in the limited number of ODI matches played all over the world over the course of the last 11 months or so, there have been a lot of quality batting performances from different players in different teams, setting the stage for a highly entertaining ICC Champions Trophy early next year.

Travis Head (154* vs England)
During the first ODI of the five-match series against Australia at the Trent Bridge in Nottingham, Travis Head scored a scintillating 154* runs in just 129 balls with 20 fours and five sixes, to help the visitors chase down a 315-run total in just 44 overs with three wickets in hand. The left-handed batter has been in incredible form in the last few months in all formats of the game, demolishing bowling attacks irrespective of the situations and pitch conditions in front of him.

Saim Ayub (113* vs Zimbabwe)
Saim Ayub is in the midst of a breakout year with the Pakistan cricket team, showcasing the depth of batting talent possessed by him in the limited-overs format with consistent big scores. During the second ODI of the three-match series against Zimbabwe at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo, scoring 113 not out in just 62 with 17 fours and three maximums, to help Pakistan chase down 145-run total in just 18.2 overs with 10 wickets in hand.

Harry Brook (110* vs Australia)
At the Riverside Ground in Chester-le-Street, Harry Brook scored his maiden hundred in ODI cricket, to help England beat Australia by 46 runs on DLS method. The 25-year-old was captaining the English cricket team in the absence of the regular skipper Jos Buttler, and his 110* runs off 94 balls with 13 fours and two maximums allowed the hosts to earn a much-needed victory in the series.

Sherfane Rutherford (113 vs Bangladesh)
Sherfane Rutherford has grown into stature as a batter at the international level in recent times, and his game-defining partnership in the first ODI of the three-match series against Bangladesh at the Warner Park in Basseterre, helped West Indies chase 294-run total with five wickets in hand. The left-handed batter scored 113* off 80 balls with seven fours and eight maximums, allowing the Caribbean kings to win the match comfortably with 14 balls to spare.

Pathum Nissanka (210* vs Afghanistan)
The first ODI of the three-match series between hosts Sri Lanka and Afghanistan saw Pathum Nissanka bring up the first double hundred in his ODI career. At the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy, the right-handed batter scored 210 runs in 139 balls with 20 fours and eight sixes against a highly skilled Afghan bowling attack, to set up a relatively easy win by 41 runs in a high-scoring game.
