The AAA Mega Championship kicked off with the pomp and circumstance typical of AAA spectacles. Triple H, Shawn Michaels, The Undertaker, Rey Mysterio, AAA President Marisela Pena, and Dorian Roldan were all in attendance, underscoring the significance of this cross-promotional extravaganza. The co-main event saw El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. retain the AAA Latin American Championship in a chaotic 9:57 fatal four-way against JD McDonagh, Ethan Page, and Dragon Lee. Building up to the final event, Penta El Zero Miedo opened the show with a promo, declaring his intent to claim the AAA Mega Championship no matter who emerged victorious in the night's headline bout.
In a night filled with high-flying action, international rivalries, and plenty of backstage drama, WWE Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio etched his name into wrestling history by dethroning El Hijo del Vikingo to win the AAA Mega Championship at WWE x AAA Worlds Collide. In the bout held at the Thomas & Mack Center's Cox Pavilion, Dominik's victory not only makes him a double champion but also fulfills a reported pre-match promise, forcing his legendary father, Rey Mysterio, to place the prestigious title around his waist. The main event was a whirlwind of shenanigans, interference, and athleticism, solidifying "Dirty Dom's" status reportedly as the most controversial and perhaps the most successful Mysterio in the family.
As promised, Rey returns with AAA Mega Championship to hand it over to Dominik Mysterio
The match itself was a back-and-forth lucha libre clinic, blending Vikingo's flips with Dominik's brawling. Judgment Day's Finn Balor and JD McDonagh also stormed the ring. Dragon Lee rushed in to battle Judgment Day, and even Rey Mysterio joined with a steel chair. As a final move to seal the win, Dominik Mysterio delivered a jumping headbutt, followed by a frog splash. The backup ref counted three, and Dominik became the new champion. Reports came up claiming that the Las Vegas crowd, heavily Mexican-influenced based on the chants of "culero" and "puto" echoing throughout, surprisingly favored Dominik. They booed Vikingo upon entrance (with a smattering of support for the champion) and erupted into singing "Dirty Dom" chants, furious when a near-fall didn't reach three and elated at the title change.
Post-match, Rey returned with the AAA Mega Championship, handing it to Dominik as promised. But Dirty Dom wasn't satisfied; he bullied his father into draping the belt around his waist with many claiming it as a humiliating moment that drew massive heat. Dominik posed triumphantly with both his WWE Intercontinental and new AAA Mega titles, hugging El Grande Americano and celebrating with Judgment Day. This victory cements Dominik as a top heel, achieving what Rey never did: holding the AAA Mega Championship.
