On Sunday, August 24, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) announced their 17-member squad for the upcoming Men’s Asia Cup 2025. The continental tournament, which return this year in the T20 format, is scheduled to be played from September 9 to 28 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Just days ahead of the tournament, the Afghan Atalan named their 17-men strong squad.

While the side will be led by Rashid Khan, their white-ball captain, it also includes the likes of veteran all-rounder Mohammad Nabi. Furthermore, Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Allah Ghazanfar, both who missed the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 earlier in the year, have returned in the side, bolstering the attack.

Moreover, Ibrahim Zadran, who returned into the national setup in the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 earlier in the year, continues to be in the side with Hazratullah Zazai making way for him. Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Mohammad Ishaq are the two wicketkeeper-batters included in the side, whereas 40-year-old Md Nabi, alongside Rashid Khan, Azmatullah Omarzai, Karim Janat and Gulbadin Naib form a lethal all-rounder core.

Speaking of the Afghan Atalans, the side have been placed in Group B alongside Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Hong Kong. The Rashid Khan & Co. will kickstart their campaign against Hong Kong on September 9 in Abu Dhabi, followed by a match each against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka on September 16 and September 18 respectively.
