In the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025 game between Guyana Amazon Warriors and Trinbago Knight Riders, the former’s batter Shai Hope got dismissed in an unconventional way. Batting first after losing the toss, Amazon lost three batters at a score of 29 in 5.3 overs. In the crunch situation, wicket-keeper Shai Hope stepped up and stitched a 35-run stand with Hassan Khan, who came to bat at number five. Hassan lost his wicket against Akeal Hosein in the ninth over. Warriors saw themselves in immense trouble when they lost Shimron Hetmyer and Romario Shepherd in quick intervals.
In the crunch situation, Hope was expected to stand in the middle and play attacking cricket. On the last delivery of the 14th over, Terrance Hinds bowled a delivery towards the off-side which was attempted by Hope but while attacking the ball, he lost control of his bat and it struck the stumps. The delivery was declared wide by the umpire but Hope was bound to walk back to the dugout for getting hit wicket. Hope amassed 39 runs after consuming 29 deliveries.
