The Lucknow Super Giants have named George Linde as the replacement for Wanindu Hasaranga. The Sri Lankan spinner was ruled out of the tournament due to an injury; the South African will be all set to make his debut in the IPL. As per Cricbuzz, Mujeeb ur Rahman and Liam Dawson were also under the radar of the Lucknow Super Giants, but they have chosen to go with the Proteas all-rounder.

The Lucknow Super Giants will be pleased with the addition of George Linde to their spin bowling unit, as he can provide support to Digvesh Rathi. He is also a handy lower-order batter and could definitely be useful with some good knocks down the order. He has proved his worth in the SA20 League, as he was a key bowler for MI Cape Town. He can prove to be a like-for-like replacement for Wanindu Hasaranga.
George Linde adds depth as LSG aim to build momentum after back-to-back wins
The Lucknow Super Giants didn’t have the best of starts in the Indian Premier League this season as they couldn’t perform well against the Delhi Capitals. But then the Lucknow Super Giants bounced back with a fine victory against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, and that surge was led by the skipper himself, Rishabh Pant. LSG got their first win of the season against SRH by 5 wickets. Yesterday, it was another thrilling match of the Lucknow Super Giants as they managed to snatch a victory from the jaws of defeat against the Kolkata Knight Riders.
Mukul Choudhury was the man who saved the Super Giants this time out as he managed to chase 14 off the last over of Prince Yadav to secure the victory by 3 wickets. With two wins on the trot for Rishabh Pant’s side, they will be confident that they can make it to the top 4 with some more quality performances in the coming matches.
The addition of George Linde could tighten their spin bowling attack, as they lack some creativity in the spin department. Their bowling seems to be well-balanced with some decent performances from the seamers, but their success in the season would depend on how far they can utilise their available depth. In last night’s game, we saw how quickly their batting order got exposed in just a 180+ run chase, and if the total gets bigger, we could see maybe even worse collapses. George Linde could provide some more batting depth with his technical ability and he can score some odd runs towards the death overs, which could potentially be match-winning.
The next match of the Lucknow Super Giants will be against the Gujarat Titans on Saturday and they will be looking to make it three wins on the trot. The Gujarat Titans will be coming off a nervy victory against the Delhi Capitals and it would be an interesting battle to see who comes out on top at the end.
