Gujarat Titans (GT) have officially qualified for their third Indian Premier League (IPL) final appearance within their first five years in the tournament. Led by skipper Shubman Gill, who smashed a stellar century, the Titans stormed into the IPL 2026 final by defeating the Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets in Qualifier 2.
They will square off against defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for the title at the Narendra Modi Stadium on May 31, 2026. Since debuting in 2022, the franchise has quickly established one of the most dominant post-season resumes in cricket history. They reached the final in their debut season in 2022 and won their maiden championship by defeating the Rajasthan Royals.
How many times have Gujarat Titans made it to IPL Finals?
They made it to back-to-back finals in the 2023 IPL, finishing as runners-up after a dramatic last-ball finish against the Chennai Super Kings. Following a transitional period, the 2026 campaign solidified the Titans as a modern-day IPL dynasty under a completely new leadership structure. Fully spearheaded by captain Shubman Gill, who balanced the burden of opening the batting while managing tactical bowling changes.
Displaying great resilience, GT secured 18 points during the league phase to finish in second place, tied with toppers Royal Challengers Bengaluru. After losing a heavy playoff opener to RCB at Dharamshala, they bounced back dramatically in Qualifier 2 against the Rajasthan Royals.
In Qualifier 2, despite an astonishing 96-run onslaught from RR's teenage prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi that set up a steep target of 215, GT did not flinch. Shubman Gill played a truly captainβs knock, hammering a flawless 104 off 53 balls. Supported heavily by Sai Sudharsan's fluent 58, GT cruised to a 7-wicket victory with more than an over to spare to set up the ultimate rematch against RCB on May 31.

GT book their tickets to play against RCB at Ahmedabad
Gujarat Titans (GT) have officially punched their ticket to the IPL 2026 Final, setting up a massive championship clash against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). The epic showdown will take place at the world's largest cricket venue, the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, on Sunday, May 31, 2026.
This final serves as the tie-breaker for an intense trilogy played between these two teams over the last month. On April 30 in Ahmedabad, GT's bowling unit completely suffocated RCB's star-studded batting, wrapping them up for just 155. GT chased it down with 4 wickets in hand, proving they knew exactly how to defend their home turf.
On May 26 in the high-altitude stadium of Dharamshala, RCB exacted terrifying revenge. They blasted a historic 254/5 in 20 overs, defeating GT by a massive 92 runs. That win gave RCB a direct ticket to the final and forced GT to take the long route through Qualifier 2. RCB enters with the psychological edge of a blowout victory and extra rest.
GT enters with roaring momentum and extreme comfort playing on their massive home ground. Sudharsan has been the quiet anchor for GT, hitting a fluent 58 last match. His ability to manipulate the strike and hit boundaries against spin through the middle overs will be crucial in stopping RCB from building pressure.
