Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru continued their sublime form as they notched up their second consecutive win in IPL 2026. Royal Challengers Bengaluru beat Chennai Super Kings by 43 runs in the 11th match of the season. RCB were batting first and it was an innings of two halves as the openers struggled a bit for timing. Padikkal also started slowly but later made up for the run rate as he smashed 50 of 29 balls. Royal Challengers Bengaluru had a terrific finish as they smashed 97 runs in the last five overs to reach 250/3 at the end of the first innings. Tim David was the star of the show smashing an unbeaten 70 runs of just 25 balls. It was a massive total and Chennai Super Kings lost their top three batters cheaply. Sarfaraz Khan counter attacked and smashed a half century but they kept losing wickets and lost the game.

Ruturaj Gaikwad | CSK captain: Well, even I was surprised, to be honest. Great fight by Sarfaraz, Prashant Veer, Jamie Overton, even to some extent Shivam Dube. So I think, maybe I could have, contributed more top of the order. You never know, we would have chased it down. (on David) Well, you're right, KP. I think, Anshul almost got a wicket of him. Unfortunate to be illegal delivery, but yeah, after that, he just smacked all over the park and, as you rightly said, hats off to him. (on not taking their chances in the field) We would have had, as you rightly said, if you had taken the early chance of Virat Kohli, I think that was, I mean, maybe he would have had momentum to ourselves. But I think, we still had the game in our hands till the 13th, 14th over, and that's when the momentum really shifted.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar: The way we batted, it looked easy. But when we bowled, there were a few balls which stopped and suddenly there were some shots where you feel like, you know, it's a good wicket to bat on, but still we stick to our basics, what we talked about. I mean, we've been talking about this since last year. So yes, we stuck to that. (on hitting the deck) Yes, I did. And the reason was, I think, more than the wicket, it was the ground which was very heavy. So I was cramping as well. I think that made me to keep the plan simple and I think, yeah, that was the reason. (on their bowling) Yes, we are. And the best thing is that we are sticking to our basics, what we talk about in the meetings, especially against an opponent. So yes, like I said, it's not a big ground to defend or to bowl, but the way we have been doing things, the way we have been preparing, I think it's coming out well. (on David's knock) Yes, absolutely. I mean, I wasn't sure that we should be happy or we should be worried because we had to bowl next.

Tim David, Player of the Match:

(On his innings) Very pleased - does not always happen that way. The skipper was smoking it, and I just took some balls off him - it was super fun. I do not change my game much, but I have confidence from all the prep I do. Going in to bat with Jitesh and Shepherd behind me really gives me confidence. Lot of prep we do here. Nice to work with DK - he is an experienced player in these conditions. Have been in the IPL for a few years. With that prep, you don't put pressure on yourself to perform.

Rajat Patidar, RCB captain:

It feels great. Initially, ball was stopping a bit. The way Phil and Kohli played, it was superb. I enjoyed a lot of sixes (towards the end) from the non-striker's end. My mindset was clear - to put pressure on the bowler, and wanted to hit sixes. He (David) is a specialist, and one of the best finishers. He is consistent and one of the best finishers I have ever seen. (On David's 106m six) I was just looking at the ball. They (Krunal and Suyash) are wicket-taking bowlers. The way Suyash came and bowled those four beautiful overs, it was great. Whenever I come under pressure, I look to KP (Krunal Pandya) and I have that much belief in him. Everyone is looking great and in a good mindset, and looking forward to the next game.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru have two wins in two matches in this season and are looking a very strong unit. On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings have lost all their three matches and desperately need to make a turnaround and bounce back quickly to stay in the competition.
