Runners up of IPL 2025, Punjab Kings had a very successful season last year despite losing the Final against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. There was no secret that Punjab Kings boasted of an excellent batting line up and they were an aggressive team with the bat throughout the season. They also had one of the highest run rates while batting first among other teams. But when it comes to their bowling attack is it underrated or vulnerable? That is the question that everyone was left asking after the previous season. Going into the IPL 2026 that is an area of concern as their bowling looks vulnerable.
Expensive despite picking up wickets
Punjab Kings bowlers in IPL 2025 were very expensive despite picking up wickets. They did not have any bowler who could bowl tight and have good economy rates game after game. That is where they struggled. Despite getting a wicket, the bowlers were conceding a lot of runs every game and it depended on the batters to rescue the team.

Weak Spin attack?
Yuzvendra Chahal did not have his best season in IPL 2025 and without him the spin bowling attack lacked any venom. Harpreet Brar did a good job but they missed a genuine wicket-taking spinner in the middle overs. The middle overs bowling of PBKS lacked the depth and wicket taking ability. They conceded a lot of runs in the middle overs in IPL 2025.

Lack of Death bowling options
Marco Jansen and Arshdeep Singh are excellent new ball bowlers but when it comes to the death overs, both of them could not do their job for a major part of IPL 2025. They struggled to contain the opposition in the death overs. Punjab Kings also were out of options for the death overs last season and had to rotate bowlers with no fixed and bankable death bowler in the side.

Ahead of IPL 2026, Punjab Kings bowling attack looks vulnerable and they might be facing plenty of issues to restrict the opposition or defend scores that are below par. It will be interesting to see how they cope with that and will this force their batters to go even harder is something that has to be seen.
