Following India's historic T20 World Cup 2026 victory on March 8, Suryakumar Yadav spoke emotionally about the influence of MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma on his leadership.Surya revealed that a pre-tournament meeting with Dhoni was instrumental in his approach, Dhoni advised him to trust the strength of his squad and stay fearless. "He told me that we have a good team; we just have to be courageous, and we will definitely win," Surya shared.
Surya frequently credits Rohit as his primary mentor in the T20 format. In a heartfelt tribute, Surya stated, "Shoes are mine, I only follow his footsteps." He emphasized that he implemented the same fundamentals and strategies he learned while playing under Rohit.
