India were clinical in the second semi-final against England at the Wankhede Stadium. They posted a score of 253 while batting first and it was an excellent effort by the batters led by Sanju Samson who smashed 89. It was an above par total and India had one foot already in the Final. Chasing the target of 254, England got off to a poor start as Phil Salt was dismissed by Hardik early. Harry Brook also fell cheaply to Bumrah and in came Jacob Bethell. England were in all sorts of trouble and India brought in Varun Chakravarthy in the fifth over and he was greeted by three sixes from Bethell. Watch the video here.
Varun Chakravarthy has had a tough tournament so far and it was evident that he was under pressure coming into this match despite having a good record against England in the past. Bethell greeted Varun Chakravarthy with two sixes of two balls. Varun went wide and down leg in the third ball and Jacob Bethell smashed a reverse sweep for six and Varun was stunned. It was a poor start from the spinner giving away 18 runs of the first three balls.

However, he bounced back as he picked up the wicket of Jos Buttler in the same over. It has been a tough start for him once again and he will hope to do better in the rest of his overs as India look to close in on the win. Varun Chakravarthy came into the tournament as the top ranked T20I bowler and there were plenty of expectations from him but he has disappointed. He still has three overs left and will be keen to come back and do well.

England have lost three wickets while scoring 83 runs in the powerplay. They are still slightly in the game and will need a blinder from someone to make a fist out of this. India are comfortably the favourites to win this match and if they manage to do it they will be facing New Zealand in the Final of the 2026 WT20.
