Despite the release of Sanju Samson, the Rajasthan Royals have managed to build a strong squad ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. The young and explosive opening pair of the team, featuring Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal, will be the real strength of the RR’s batting lineup. In this article, we are going to discuss why the Rajasthan Royals’ opening pair could trouble every IPL team this year.
Why Rajasthan Royals’ explosive opening pair could trouble every IPL team
IPL 2026 is set to kick off on 28 March in Bengaluru, and the Rajasthan Royals, led by Riyan Parag, will play their first match on 30 March against the Chennai Super Kings at Guwahati.
The team is looking strong, but their real strength lies in their openers, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Both left-handers are known for their attacking form of cricket, and stats also back their gameplay.
Jaiswal played a total of 67 matches in IPL, scoring 2166 runs with an average of 34.38 and a strike rate of 152.85, including 2 centuries and 15 half-centuries. On the other hand, the 14-year-old Suryavashi played his first IPL season last year, where he smashed 252 runs in 7 matches with an average of 36.00 and a strike rate of 206.55, including 1 century and 1 half-century.
These stats show that both openers love playing attacking cricket and are also very consistent. This combination makes them one of the deadliest opening pairs in IPL 2026.
Rajasthan Royals will play their first match against Chennai Super Kings on 30 March at Guwahati, and then they move to Ahmedabad on 4 April to play against Gujarat Titans. Then they will play back-to-back home games at Guwahati against the Mumbai Indians on 7 April and the Royal Challengers Bangalore on 10 April. BCCI will release the full schedule later.
