England is currently taking on India in a highly-anticipated five-match Test series for the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy in the UK. While the hosts are 2-1 up in the series after they won the first and third Test in Leeds and London respectively, India are currently trailing after they won the second Test in Birmingham. While they will aim to get back into the game and level the series in Manchester, England are currently in a dominant position, already posting a lead of 186 runs at stumps on day three.
While there have been ups and downs for both sides, the visitors are majorly struggling with injuries. While Nitish Kumar Reddy is out of the series, Arshdeep and Akash Deep missed the fourth Test with their respective injuries. Furthermore, Rishabh Pant, who was struggling with a finger injury, got a blow on his foot, and has been advised rest for atleast six weeks.
Kevin Pietersen’s makes BIG statement in regard to batters; asks names of top 10 modern day bowlers
Although, he did walk out to bat for India in the first innings, Joe Root’s 150-run knock stole the limelight at Old Trafford thereafter. While Root played a gritty knock, surpassing several records in Test cricket history, Ben Stokes is currently at the crease with unbeaten 77. Amidst this, former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen, who is known of his vocal nature, once again opted to go out loud, calling the batting in present day “easy” compared to the one 20-25 years ago.
Taking to his Instagram handle, KP wrote, “Don’t shout at me but batting these days is way easier than 20/25 years ago! Probably twice as hard back then! Waqar, Shoaib, Akram, Mushtaq, Kumble, Srinath, Harbhajan, Donald, Pollock, Klusner, Gouch, McGrath, Lee, Warne, Gillespie, Bon, Vettori, Cairns, Vaas, Murali, Curtley, Courtney and the list could go on and on….”
The former England cricket further went on asking fans to drop names of 10 modern day bowlers that can be compared to the above mentioned legendary lineup, writing, “I’ve named 22 above. Please name me 10 modern day bowlers that can compare to the names above?”
However, the exact motive behind this post is not known yet, but it comes seeing England in a dominant position in the ongoing fourth Test in Manchester. After winning the toss and inviting India to bat first, England bundled out the visitors at 358 in 114.1 overs. Ben Stokes starred with the ball, picking a fifer. The home side then put up mammoth score at the end of third day’s play and have encapsulated a lead of 186 runs with Ben Stokes (77*) and Liam Dawson (21*) in the middle.
