Luis Diaz, the Colombian international, who plays as a forward for reigning Premier League champions Liverpool, has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich in the ongoing summer transfer window. Earlier this month, reigning Bundesliga champions reportedly made a £58.6 million bid for Luis Diaz, which was not accepted by Liverpool, but despite that, the German club are determined to sign him, to bolster their attacking ranks for the 2025-26 season.
Notably, as per the report from Fabrizio Romano, the Italian sports journalist, Bayern Munich have made an improved offer of £65.5 million, including add-ons, in their attempt to reserve the services of Luis Diaz. Amid that, the player was left out of Liverpool’s squad for their pre-season friendly against AC Milan at the Kai Tak Sports Park in Hong Kong on their tour to Asia, losing the contest 4-2.
Liverpool left out Luis Diaz from squad for pre-season friendly with AC Milan
The reason for Luis Diaz not getting picked in the Liverpool squad for their recent pre-season friendly was connected to his links to Bayern Munich. Arne Slot, the manager of Liverpool, gave his thoughts on why he didn’t select Luis Diaz, which read, “There are a lot of rumours around him lately and I cannot go into that. He's training really well with us but we've decided for now not to play him yet.”
Notably, in the transfer market, Liverpool have been quite active ahead of the 2025-26 season, signing Florian Wirtz in a club record deal apart from securing Hugo Ekitike’s services in the forward ranks as well. They are heavily linked with Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak, who hasn’t turned up for his club on their pre-season tour to Asia due to an injury.
With such big names already in the plans of Liverpool in terms of attacking, they will be keen to sell Luis Diaz, but at their pre-determined valuation in all likelihood.
